About Abby
As a tutor, I have both extensive experience and accredited subject matter expertise. I have a BA and an MA in English and am currently in the dissertation stage of my PhD. I have over 5 years of tutoring experience in reading and writing with students of all ages, from kindergarten to college. I also have 5 years of classroom teaching experience at the college level.

It's important to me that I meet my students where they're at, so my lesson plans are always developed according to each individual student's needs. My teaching style is generally non-directive, meaning that, when appropriate, I build lessons that guide students to finding answers/skills on their own, rather than simply giving it to them and having them parrot it back at me. I find that giving students this kind of agency over their own learning not only yields better grades, but it also builds their confidence and allows them to experience real joy as part of the learning process.
