About Lauren

In high school I became interested in how the world works, and why things are the way they are. This originally led me towards a BS in Physics and BA in Mathematics, but my curiosity took me even further to complete a Master's and PhD in Physics. My research focused on condensed matter and surface physics, where I studied materials at the atomic scale and published my work in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Communications and Advanced Materials.

Alongside my studies, I've had the opportunity to tutor students in Physics I and Physics II, helping them overcome challenging concepts and build confidence in their problem-solving skills. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing a topic that once seemed confusing suddenly "click."

I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance. My teaching style is patient, interactive, and tailored to each student's individual needs. Rather than simply working through problems, I focus on helping students develop a deep understanding of the underlying concepts, adding tools to their problem-solving toolbox, so they can apply these to solve new problems independently.

Whether you're taking your first physics course, preparing for an exam, or looking to strengthen your math skills, I'll work with you at your pace to help you achieve your goals. My aim is not only to improve your grades but also to help you develop confidence and an appreciation for physics that lasts beyond the classroom.

About the lesson

I'm a Physics PhD with published research in condensed matter and surface physics, where I studied material surfaces at the atomic scale. In addition to my research background, I have extensive experience tutoring students in Physics I (Mechanics) and Physics II (Electricity & Magnetism, Waves) and teaching Calculus 1 & 2, helping students improve their grades, prepare for exams, and gain confidence in their problem-solving abilities.
I believe physics isn't about memorizing equations, it's about understanding how the world works. My teaching style emphasizes building up individual students’ problem-solving skills by adapting lessons to their learning style. This ensures that difficult concepts become clear and manageable for students to eventually tackle on their own.

Topics I can help with:

-Physics I (Mechanics)
-Physics II (Electricity & Magnetism, Waves)
-High school and college physics
-Calculus and supporting mathematics
-Homework assistance and exam preparation
-Developing effective problem-solving and study strategies

As a researcher, I've worked on real-life applications of physics by studying materials at the atomic scale, and have published my findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals (Advanced Matter, Nature Communications). This experience allows me to bring real-world scientific insight into my lessons while making even the most challenging topics approachable.
Whether you're aiming to pass a difficult course, earn top grades, or deepen your understanding of physics, I'm committed to helping you succeed. I look forward to working together to reach your academic goals!
