Ali is one of those rare teachers that excites students and makes us want to learn more. I sought Ali’s help with philosophy, but I feel like I received so much more in terms of an education. Ali provided comprehensive guidance and knowledge of philosophical ideas, always encouraging me to think differently. Additionally, I learnt so much about how to structure an argument and write coherently and logically – a skill that I have been able to apply in my work and other subjects. Ali would adjust his lessons to suit my needs. Ali would prepare for any topic I wished to discuss and always provided comprehensive notes and, later, a recap of his lessons. Nothing seemed like too much work for Ali as he diligently met with me for as much time as I required. Ali’s style of writing and use of the English language is profound. Ali finds ways to describe philosophical insights and build arguments using his incredible vocabulary, which is never pretentious or showy. In short, Ali is a delightful, committed, and intelligent teacher. Ali is patient, generous with his time, and very thorough in his lessons. Ali tutored me for a period of 12 months through my year 11 and 12 studies of physics. I found him to be an extremely knowledgeable teacher not only on the subject matter but also the school curriculum. He was patient, and always checked to see I could understand concepts before moving on. Most of all, I enjoyed Ali’s enthusiasm for physics. He improved not only my marks, but my love for the subject, which I now plan to study at university. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ali as a tutor.

Dr Ali was a big help in my IB Philosophy exams by clearly explaining and distilling complex topics into lectures which were easy to understand yet detailed enough to report on afterwards. Following each lecture, I would write an expose on the topic, and he would help edit my work to improve accuracy and communication of the topic. Would highly recommend Dr Ali for understanding topics in the realm of philosophy, maths and logic!
