About Ashley
Hi! My name is Ashley and I am working on a PhD at the University of Michigan. Before beginning graduate school, I mentored many high school and undergraduate students in the behavioral neurogenetics lab that I worked in, with the goal of them becoming independent researchers. I was also an educator at the science museum, where I was lead educator for the robotics camp for students 10-12 years old. These experiences have made me flexible to many different learning styles! I am available for: middle school, high school, or early undergraduate tutoring (ex: classes up through intro physics, general chemistry, pre-calculus, basic statistics)

Writing things down is one of the most important parts of learning. It helps you to organize your thoughts, moves information from short-term to long-term memory, and it reveals what concepts you are still uncertain about. My approach includes showing an outline of how to set up a problem, and then allowing the student to try problems on their own. Human brains are amazing at recognizing patterns, and my goal is to help students find the patterns to how specific problems should be approached.
