About Olivia
My background in Philosophy has given me lots of experience reading, interpreting and understanding literary works. I have a First Class BA with Honours in Philosophy from the University of Kent, four A-Levels (including one A-Level in Latin which has helped me better understand the facets of the English language), and I have ten GCSEs at A*/A grades (including A*s in English Language and English Literature). I am well read and have experience teaching English as a foreign language to many students, and I have been engaging in tutoring of some form since I was in Sixth Form.

I give one-to-one lessons to school-age students up to GCSE level. My approach will be to consult my student on what they are studying and where they are struggling, and tailor my session-plans and contents to the needs of each individual. Sessions will typically last one to two hours, and will be directed for the most part by what the student needs or is having problems with. I will be happy to look at feedback the student has received on homework and assignments and discuss with them how they might improve. My aim is to create a supportive and encouraging environment for students to develop their skills and improve their confidence in English as a subject, and hopefully to come to enjoy their study of it.
