About Kierston
Kierston Nacole is a pianist, vocalist, choral educator, and the owner of Melody Haven. Her experience as both a teacher and active musician shapes her warm, practical approach to music education. She believes students learn best when strong musical foundations are paired with encouragement, creativity, and music they genuinely enjoy.
Rather than expecting every student to learn in the same way or at the same pace, Kierston adapts lessons to each student’s age, goals, learning style, and personality. Her instruction combines technique, sight-reading, rhythm, music theory, ear training, musical expression, and effective practice strategies. Students learn not only how to perform a song, but also how to understand the music and independently solve problems as they practice.
Kierston especially enjoys helping beginners feel capable, guiding developing musicians beyond frustration, and giving students a safe place to build confidence. Whether a student is preparing for an audition, learning for personal enjoyment, participating in church or theater, or developing lifelong musicianship, her goal is to help them become thoughtful, expressive, and increasingly independent musicians.

Melody Haven is a welcoming music studio serving children, teenagers, and adults in the Newport and surrounding Carteret County area. The studio offers individualized instruction in piano, voice, beginning organ, music theory, preschool music, and audition preparation.
Lessons at Melody Haven are designed around the whole musician. Students develop healthy technique, note-reading and sight-reading skills, rhythm, listening skills, music theory, expression, and performance confidence. They are also taught how to practice effectively by identifying difficult sections, choosing an appropriate strategy, and working toward specific, achievable goals.
Because no two students are exactly alike, instruction is tailored to each student’s experience, interests, pace, and purpose for studying music. Repertoire may include classical music, church and gospel music, musical theatre, popular music, and other styles that support the student’s goals while strengthening essential skills.
Melody Haven’s teaching philosophy balances structure with encouragement. Students are challenged to grow without being made to feel ashamed of where they are starting. The goal is not simply to complete songs or pass through method books—it is to develop confident, expressive musicians who understand what they are doing and can carry their skills into a lifetime of music-making.
