About Spencer
I discovered a passion for piano early in life, captivated by its ability to convey both technical sophistication and emotional depth. I completed an M.Mus in Piano Performance and Music Pedagogy, which equipped me with advanced training in technique, interpretation, and teaching methodology. Over 10 years, I have worked with students of varying ages and levels, helping them develop both skill and expressive artistry.
I emphasize a student-centered approach, tailoring each lesson to the individual’s abilities, goals, and musical interests. Lessons combine technical exercises, repertoire, improvisation, sight-reading, and performance coaching. I provide structured feedback, encouragement, and gradual skill progression while fostering a love for music and creative expression.
Beyond teaching, I remain engaged with performance, composition, and pedagogical research, which allows me to bring contemporary techniques, stylistic insight, and practical performance strategies into lessons. Teaching piano is profoundly rewarding because I witness students grow from tentative beginners into confident performers capable of expressing themselves fully and authentically through music.

Lesson plans are tailored to each student’s level. Beginners focus on basic technique, simple repertoire, posture, and sight-reading skills. Intermediate students refine expression, phrasing, technical fluency, and interpretative ability. Advanced learners concentrate on performance preparation, stylistic versatility, complex repertoire, and musical analysis. Each session combines structured exercises with creative exploration and personalized feedback, ensuring measurable growth and musical development.
Piano study also cultivates patience, focus, and emotional awareness. Students gain confidence in both technical skills and expressive performance, learning to communicate musical ideas convincingly.
