About Ivy
With 6 years of teaching experience and a Licentiate of Music in Piano, I bring a deeply poetic approach to piano instruction. I believe the piano is more than an instrument—it’s a storyteller’s voice, a canvas for imagination. My teaching approach focuses on helping learners develop musical fluency right from their very first lesson. I emphasize finger independence to build strength and agility, which is essential for smooth playing.
Reading fluency is another key area, where I guide students to recognize notes and rhythms quickly, helping them play confidently without hesitation. Real-time rhythm training is integrated into lessons to improve timing and coordination.
I also encourage duet playing, which not only makes practice fun but sharpens listening skills and ensemble awareness. Lessons are tailored to support students who enjoy contemporary styles as well as those playing in church settings.
