About Adelaide
My teaching approach is designed to help students achieve musical fluency from day one. I focus on making lessons engaging and practical, so students feel confident playing real music quickly. Every session balances skill-building with fun, ensuring learning is effective and enjoyable. Finger independence is developed through carefully structured exercises that feel natural and musical. Reading fluency is integrated early, using a mix of notation and ear training to build confidence in sight-reading and improvisation. Real-time rhythm training helps students internalise timing and groove, making them more expressive performers. I incorporate duet playing from the start, teaching listening, timing, and collaboration skills. Students who play contemporary or church music receive tailored guidance in chord progressions, accompaniment patterns, and improvisation techniques, helping them excel in their preferred styles. We also focus on musical phrasing, dynamics, and articulation, so every piece becomes an expressive performance rather than just notes on a page. Lessons are always customised to each student’s goals, pace, and interests. By combining technical mastery with musicality, I aim to nurture confident, versatile pianists. Students leave each lesson feeling capable, inspired, and ready to explore new musical ideas. My ultimate goal is for them to experience the piano as a language of expression and joy.

With six years of teaching experience and a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA), I see piano not just as sound, but as story. Each note carries emotion, each phrase a whisper of meaning. My teaching blends the discipline of technique with the artistry of imagination, inviting students to connect deeply with the music they play. I believe piano is poetry in motion, an art form where touch, tone, and timing tell tales words cannot. Through literature, imagery, and storytelling, I help students see music as a living landscape of feeling and colour. We explore how phrasing paints emotion, how silence can shimmer, and how harmony breathes life into narrative. Lessons are a sanctuary for reflection, creativity, and sensitivity. My students learn to shape mood, interpret symbolism, and find their own voice through repertoire that stirs the heart. I work especially well with learners who feel music as much as they hear it, those drawn to explore meaning, not just mastery. Each session is a dialogue between emotion and expression, guided by curiosity and care. Together, we uncover the music within and the story behind every sound.
