About Justin

I’m a professional jazz trumpeter and educator of almost 30 years with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies from New Jersey City University. I’ve performed at venues including Lincoln Center and major NYC jazz clubs, and was also a member of the New York Youth Symphony Jazz Band (lead trumpet), the Caldwell College Honors Band, and the NJ All-State Jazz Ensemble.
I’ve taught students of all ages in private studios and school programs. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and clear. I focus on helping students understand why things work so they become confident, independent players, not just follow instructions.
Whether you’re a beginner, student preparing for auditions, or an adult returning to the instrument, I create a comfortable learning environment where progress feels natural and consistent.
My goal is simple: help you enjoy playing more every week.

Most trumpet players are taught to use pressure and tight lips, which leads to range struggles, fatigue, and inconsistent tone.
I teach efficient playing. You’ll learn how the aperture works, how the corners control pitch, and how to let the lips vibrate instead of forcing sound. Students quickly notice easier high notes, better endurance, and a clearer tone.
I’m a professional jazz trumpeter (NJCU Jazz Studies) with performance experience at major venues including Lincoln Center and NYC jazz clubs. I specialize in helping players who feel stuck finally break through.
Lessons are clear, structured, and relaxed so you always know exactly what to practice.
