About Marijke
I am a fulltime student at University College Dublin doing a MSc in Education, Children, and Youth. I have an undergraduate degree in Political Science, Philosophy, and Economics from Stellenbosch University. After completing my Postgraduate Certificate of Education, I got my Honors degree in Educational Development and Democracy. I am originally from South Africa but have always dreamt of living abroad. This is me making that dream work :)
I am very passionate about the power of education to uplift and empower young people, but I am also aware that 'schooling' is not a universally fun or engaging experience for all students. I therefore hope to meet you where you are and guide you to recognize and realize your full academic potential!

I am very enthusiastic about teaching English and History and about conveying my passion for these subjects to those I tutor. Both these subjects play a significant part in developing students' critical thinking and communication skills which are invaluable in contemporary times.
I believe in a student-centered approach to tutoring. Individual students' needs will guide the format and content of our tutoring sessions. I aim to use a lot of interactive resources to make learning accessible and exciting for students.
I am a fulltime MSc Education, Children and Youth student at University College Dublin and have experience working as an English teacher and tutor in South Africa.
I would ideally like to tutor students that are 12-16 years of age.
