About Tom
I studied Politics at undergraduate level which involved comparative politics, international relations, US politics, British politics and modules relating to the media in the US. I furthered my study to postgraduate level reading IR and Security. My thesis focused on international norm compliance and I conducted a comparative case study analysis of civil war in Libya and Syria in relation to the Responsibility to Protect.

I prefer to take a blended approach to teaching. With politics and IR in particular I think it is useful doing a mix of theory sessions to understand the principles blended with more interactive sessions involving debate to thrash out different arguments to apply the theory in practice.
