• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  Science has always been one of my favourite subjects and my strongest forte. I always enjoyed learning science as a student. My interest towards Chemistry flourished during my 10th std. My Chemistry teacher back then was the one who made me love this subject. From then, I have always enjoyed learning chemistry and it peaked during the time of my entrance coaching. It was during that period I realised my passion was towards chemistry. As a result, I joined an Integrated Chemistry program after my 12th. Now I am a PG student in Chemistry.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  For me teaching has always been my passion. From clearing doubts to classmates to taking tuitions, I slowly realised I wanted to become a teacher. According to me, being a teacher is one of the noblest and selfless profession one can choose. There is no better joy than seeing the happiness in one's face when they are able to understand what I have taught. That according to me is my greatest motivation to choose the path of teaching.

• How does your work help society?

  As I said, teaching is indeed one of the noblest and most selfless professions according to me. A teacher always aims for nothing short of the success of their students. A teacher not only teaches the subject but also motivates and builds confidence in the students. A good and kind teacher can have a huge impact on students. Teachers are the ones moulding the future generations. They are indeed superheroes.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  My 10th std Maths teacher is and will always be my greatest role model to become a teacher. He was someone who gave his 110 percent to the students. His dedication and perseverance towards teaching amazed me. Not only did he teach the subject, but he was also kind and motivating. He was the first person that inculcated the thought of becoming a teacher, in me.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  Apart from teaching, I really enjoy reading books and dancing. I spend my leisure time either reading some good books or dancing to some of my favourite tunes. Both of these hobbies always help me to be relaxed.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  I remember the time when I had done a teaching internship at a girl's school. It was my first, actual experience of professional teaching. That internship period was a great learning experience for me. I got to work with a bunch of talented and experienced faculties at the school and they helped me to a great extent. The classroom experience with the students was my favourite part. To be a teacher and to stand in front of a class full of students and address them was one of the unforgettable moments in my life. I will always cherish that.
