About Ruby-Maebh
I am a professionally trained dancer with a strong background in performing arts and a Master’s in Secondary Education. My experience across primary, secondary and SEND settings has shaped a teaching philosophy that is centred on support, realism and meaningful progress rather than pressure or perfection. I understand how overwhelming GCSEs, A-Levels and BTEC courses can feel when students are trying to balance several subjects alongside personal commitments and sometimes the added pressure of preparing for college, sixth form or university. Having lived through similar challenges myself, I know how important it is for learning to feel manageable and purposeful. I focus on building confidence, curiosity and a sense of cultural understanding within the subject, because I believe students learn best when they feel capable, valued and supported. I do not believe in pushing students beyond what is realistic for them at a given moment. If a student is aiming for a pass, then we work towards achieving a merit. If they are already secure, we build appropriate stretch that feels motivating rather than overwhelming. Above all, I want students to feel encouraged and confident in their own abilities. My teaching is rooted in clarity, empathy and steady challenge, helping each young person make genuine progress while feeling calmer and more in control of their learning journey.

I offer personalised dance coaching that supports students with technique, choreography and GCSE/BTEC Dance theory. My lessons are designed to target the key areas where students nationally lack confidence, including; accurate movement description, use of dance vocabulary, analysis of choreographic devices, and clear written responses for longer exam questions. I provide detailed support with the six AQA professional works, helping students understand intention, structure, movement content and stylistic features so they can write confidently and score highly. For BTEC students, I specialise in improving rehearsal logs, developing reflective practice, analysing professional influences and strengthening extended written work. Sessions are usually one hour and start with a check-in to identify goals for the week. I break down theory and practical work into clear, manageable steps and offer specific, constructive feedback. Whether a student wants to refine technique, improve choreography, strengthen performance skills or boost their written grades, I adapt each session to support their progress with confidence.
