About Sarah
I have been tutoring ESL in-person since 1995 and online since 2010. I have a bachelor's degree in English literature, a Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate, and a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate. As a published writer, I have tutored various kinds of writing, but I specialize in teaching speaking.

I am passionate about helping my students find their own “voice” in English so that they can express themselves with more confidence. With my lessons, I try to help my students learn about themselves, other people, and the world—not only English.
When I tutor speaking, I also give mini-lessons on grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, phrasal verbs, and idioms.
I try to encourage my students to talk as much as possible. I work hard to build a rapport with my students based on their age, level, personality, interests, goals, and learning style.
I do correct their mistakes, but I do it in what one of my ex-students called a “kind and...professional” way. So, they learn to improve their accuracy and fluency.
~Please note that I only tutor adults, not children. Also, I specialize in intermediate and advanced students.~
