About Jacob
I am a professional actor trained at Actors Centre Australia, with over a decade of experience performing on stage and screen. My career has taken me from leading roles with Bell Shakespeare (Australia’s national touring Shakespeare company) and the Sydney Theatre Company, to originating roles in major productions such as Muriel’s Wedding the Musical. On screen, I have appeared in Oscar-winning films including Hacksaw Ridge, as well as acclaimed television series and projects with directors such as Mel Gibson and Rachel Griffiths.
Alongside my performing career, I have a passion for coaching actors at every stage of their journey. Over the years I have worked with both emerging and established performers, providing guidance on monologues, self-tapes, and audition preparation. My approach is supportive, constructive, and tailored to the individual, giving actors the tools they need to perform with clarity, truth, and confidence. My Teaching Approach Each session is shaped around you — your goals, your material, and your challenges.
A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes and may include:
-Text and script analysis (classical or contemporary)
-Monologue coaching for drama school auditions
-Self-tape preparation and feedback
-Reading for and coaching on your tapes
-Audition technique, pacing, and confidence-building
-Working on Shakespeare (verse, prose, ownership of language)
-General acting development (presence, truth, and connection)
I believe the best work comes when you feel safe and free to explore. My role is not to direct you into my version of the text, but to guide you towards your unique voice as an actor. I help you break down the script, unlock imagination and emotional connection, and give you practical tools so you can walk into an audition room (or record a self-tape) feeling prepared, dynamic, and authentically yourself.
Who My Lessons Are For
-Students preparing for drama school auditions (UK or international).
-Actors refining self-tapes or monologues for auditions.
-Beginners exploring acting for the first time.
-Professionals looking for a constructive outside eye.
Whether you are aiming for a drama school place, a professional audition, or simply building confidence, my coaching will give you clear, constructive feedback and real industry insight from someone who has worked across theatre, film, and television internationally.

My approach is clear and constructive: practical techniques, actionable feedback, and space to explore your choices. Lessons are usually one hour, but I adjust to the material and your goals. I trained as an actor and have performed internationally in theatre, film, and TV. I specialise in preparing students for drama school auditions and coaching actors on self-tapes, helping them perform with confidence, detail, and presence. Suitable for all ages and levels.
My lessons are always tailored to you:
Already comfortable on camera but need help breaking down a script? We’ll focus on script analysis and traditional acting techniques such as Stanislavski and given circumstances.
Strong at analysis but unsure how to bring yourself into the work? We’ll explore authenticity — how to let you come through. Casting directors today are looking for honesty and individuality, not a mask of “character work.”
Nervous about Shakespeare? I’ll give you the tools to make sense of the verse, unlock the text, and maybe even fall in love with the Bard.
Completely new to acting? We’ll start with simple, practical exercises to build your confidence and help you enjoy the process of performing truthfully.

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Jacob and he is the most incredible actor. His dedication to a role is unmatched and he is also a fantastic human all round. Highly highly recommend!
Jake is incredibly knowledgeable and hardworking. He has a keen eye for detail and a tenacious work ethic. If you want a dedicated, honest and talented tutor, look no further!
As a director I have had the pleasure of working with Jacob several times and have found him to be one of the most insightful and hard working actors I’ve ever encountered. He possesses an amazing instinct for expressing character through choices and an almost annoying ability to find the game in any line. He might be the most active listener I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t imagine a better coach.
I have worked professionally with Jacob and seen his work ethic up close. No one does it better. As an actor he is incredibly present and has excellent instincts. He is kind, honest and patient. Jacob will get the best out of you as a performer so that you can lead with confidence and a sense of play in through your work.
Jacob is a kindhearted and quirky perfectionist, the ultimate mix! He is curious and inventive but can keenly feel the boundaries of a script/moment, so will always serve a project truthfully.
I had the pleasure of working with Jacob, and I was blown away not only by his talent as a performer but also by his generosity and clarity as a teacher. He has a rare gift for breaking things down in a way that feels accessible while still inspiring you to aim higher. His patience, encouragement, and attention to detail create such a supportive environment, you walk away not only with stronger technique but also with more confidence. I’d recommend him to anyone looking to grow, whether professionally or personally.
Jacob has a wealth of experience as an actor across many different genres. He approaches work with a warmth and playfulness which never fails to achieve exceptional results.
I have had the pleasure of working with Jacob on stage, and he is an exceptional actor with a deep understanding of text and character. He is collaborative, generous, and always supportive of those around him. Jacob has also helped me with plenty of self-tapes and has a great ability to give constructive insights that help bring out the best in his scene partners. I have no doubt that these same skills make him an excellent coach and mentor for actors preparing for auditions or self-tapes.
Jacob is a phenomenal actor, I’ve had the privilege to work along side him and his professionalism and work ethic are like no other. Highly recommend working with this guy!
Jacob gave me clear, actionable feedback on my self-tape that really sharpened my approach. His expertise made me see what casting directors are looking for, and I now feel confident about how to prepare for next time. Highly recommended!
You are actually in the arena. This is everything. The caliber of your screen and theatre work, the theatre companies you’ve a worked for, the people ypuve been directed by, the quality of colleagues you’ve had… there is just no way all of this would have happened over the last 20 years if you weren’t excellent at what you do, and the kind of person want to employ/work with. Most people teaching got out of the arena years or decade ago. By practicing what you want to pass on you’re giving a quality of teaching which is far deeper, precise, open and relevant. And of course, you also have fun in your work - which means you’ll pass on a healthy sense of play and exploration in others
Having worked with Jacob on a show, his commitment to a role is second to none and his ability to make such inspired choices is amazing. Highly recommend him as a teacher to anyone!
