About Matt
As a dedicated violist and violinist, I hold Master of Music from Southern Methodist University’s esteemed Meadows School of the Arts. I have a Bachelor of Music from Texas State University. Having performed internationally, I thrive in collaborative musical settings. I have performed in many professional ensembles, playing a wide variaty of genres and styles. During my undergraduate studies, I held the position of Assistant Principal Violist in the Texas State Symphony Orchestra while also contributing as Associate Concertmaster Violinist in the Starlight Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, I took pride in mentoring young talents ages 4-12 as a faculty member of the Texas State String Project. When I step away from the violin, I indulge in diverse interests, including reading, shopping, painting, photography, golfing, and gardening. I am excited to embark on this musical journey with you, sharing my expertise and nurturing your love for music.

My teaching approach is designed to cater to the goals of every student. I believe that music lessons should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, skill level, or background. In my lessons, I create a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and growth.
I use a variety of teaching techniques, including traditional pedagogical methods, interactive activities, repertoire exploration, and applied music theory. I focus on developing fundamental techniques while also fostering creativity and self-expression in playing.
