About Soren
Hello! My name is Soren, and I’ve been studying Spanish for 5+ years! When I first started, I struggled to conjugate words to correct grammatical tenses and remember new vocabulary. However, something magical clicked in my brain in Spanish 2, and I fell in love (and improved a lot!). After taking Spanish 3 the summer after 2, I studied abroad in Spain for a whole school year without my family and friends back home. It was hard, but so worth it, because by the time I returned to the United States, I was able to earn the Seal of Biliteracy for Spanish on my High School diploma and a 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam. I landed a seasonal part-time job as an after-school Spanish teacher at a local elementary school, and from there I’ve continued to inspire confidence in students’ language abilities. Let me help improve your Spanish speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills!

I teach partly through interactive lessons explained in English and Spanish, and partly through complete Spanish immersion. Typically a session will look like this: • Warm up with the basics & review of what we learned in the previous session. • Core lesson - introduction of a new verb tense, vocabulary theme, or grammar point. *This can be exchanged for help with what’s already being taught in Spanish class or Spanish homework. • Interaction - This is the immersion part. Here, no English will be spoken. We will converse completely in Spanish to the best of the tutee’s abilities on topic of what we’ve just learned. Speaking and Listening skills will be tested here. • Literary Skills - I will guide the tutee as they read and provide written responses to some custom prompts in Spanish on topic of what we’ve learned. • Wrap Up * Students can choose whether or not they’d like homework! Qualifications: • Studied abroad in Spain for a year in 10th grade (2023-2024). • Earned the Seal of Biliteracy for Spanish and English on my High School diploma (2024). • I scored a 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam (2025). • Part-time after-school Spanish teacher at a local elementary school (2025-Current). Suggested for 7th-12th grade students in Spanish 1, Spanish 2, Spanish 3, Spanish 4, and AP Spanish Language and Culture. However, I will tutor anyone who desires to learn Spanish, even outside of a school setting!
