About Liam
I am a qualified English teacher and lecturer with 8 years of experience teaching students across secondary and post-16 education. Over that time, I have worked with a wide range of learners, helping them to build confidence, improve their skills, and achieve strong results in English.
I currently teach GCSE English in college and have experience supporting students with both GCSE English Language and Literature as well as A Level English Literature. My background in schools and colleges means I understand the demands of the courses, the pressure students can feel, and the best ways to help them make clear progress.
As a tutor, I aim to be supportive, approachable, and practical. I know that English can feel overwhelming for some students, so I focus on breaking things down clearly and helping them build confidence step by step. At the same time, I enjoy pushing stronger students further, helping them to develop more thoughtful interpretations, sharper analysis, and more sophisticated written responses.
I am passionate about English as a subject and enjoy helping students see that it is not just about passing exams, but about learning how to think, interpret, and express ideas with confidence.

I am a qualified English lecturer with 8 years of teaching experience, offering lessons in GCSE and A Level English in Newcastle and online.
I currently teach post-16 students and have experience working across both schools and colleges, giving me a strong understanding of exam expectations, course content, and the skills students need to succeed. I can support students with GCSE English Language and Literature, as well as A Level English Literature, helping them to build confidence, strengthen analysis, and improve their written responses.
My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs. Whether you need support with essay writing, revision, close language analysis, structuring arguments, or preparing for exams, I aim to make lessons clear, supportive, and productive. I can help students who need to build confidence and secure pass grades, as well as those aiming for the very top marks.
For GCSE students, I offer support with exam technique, analytical paragraph writing, key texts, SPaG, and revision skills. For A Level students, I can help with developing more conceptual arguments, deeper textual analysis, comparison, critical vocabulary, and the essay structure needed for high-level responses.
Lessons are available online or in person in Durham, depending on location and availability.
