About John

*Child safeguarding is my absolute priority. I hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate maintained on the government update service. My DBS status and teaching credentials will be shown to prospective parents and carers before we proceed with tuition.*

Maths and Physics offer powerful ways to understand the world around us — from the logic that shapes every calculation to the forces that govern the universe. Discover their beauty, strengthen your confidence, and enjoy learning through clear, engaging lessons.

With a deep passion for both subjects, my goal is to inspire that same curiosity and excitement in my students — helping them develop genuine understanding and confidence through structured, accessible teaching.
I make learning clear, enjoyable, and relevant, using real-world contexts and practical examples to bring topics to life.

My online lessons are interactive and fully tailored to each student, breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps and strengthening problem-solving skills along the way.

Quite simply, I’m successful at what I do because I love these subjects and know how to teach them effectively. Teaching is what I do every day — and I look forward to helping you become a confident and capable Maths and Physics student, ready to achieve your best.

About the lesson

At the heart of my teaching are metacognitive strategies, which encourage students to reflect on their learning and take ownership of their progress.

I teach Year 6 Maths (SATs preparation), GCSE and iGCSE Edexcel Maths (Foundation and Higher), and GCSE AQA Physics (Foundation and Higher). My lessons are interactive, structured, and supportive — designed to build understanding, confidence, and strong exam technique.

Students work through a variety of practice questions and past papers to familiarise themselves with different question styles and develop effective problem-solving strategies.

I welcome all enquiries and would be happy to discuss your child’s learning needs — please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Perfect! John is an excellent tutor. He makes sure to assess his students and challenge them to the right level. He took the trouble to arrange a call with me prior to the lessons to ensure he had a full understanding of my son's profile. John is patient with his students and is very approachable. I would highly recommend John for GCSE Maths.

John is a wonderful physics teacher. John has excellent teaching skills making the subject not seem so complicated. My daughter felt relaxed and confident with John from the first lesson and looked forward to the lessons as she was finally understanding a subject she has previously found very difficult. John takes him time to explain things properly and no question or repetition is to much. Thank you John

John has been tutoring my 16 year old son as he approaches his GCSE's in May and we could not be more impressed with how Liam has come along in his understanding of both math and physics. John has a brilliant way with students that keeps them engages which isn't an easy task! He has a depth of knowledge and I am confident Liam will be able to get a good grade in his upcoming exams because of John's help, Highly recommended :)

John has just started working on maths exam revision with our son in preparation for his GCSE's. He has been so pro-active in the preparation. Establishing his level, where is weaknesses lie, the style of teaching he responds to and after the first couple of lessons our son is excited to learn. He is also super proficient during online lessons - using a variety of techniques to communicate and share work and ideas. I would strongly recommend him!
