About Pooja

Welcome to VCE Maths Mentors in Wantirna. I’m a qualified career mathematics teacher (M.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Ed.) with 20+ years of experience across Melbourne, London and India, including 7+ years specialising in VCE. I teach VCE Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and General Maths, and I’ve taught students from Melbourne’s leading private, public and selective schools.

For Years 4–8, I’m supported by my daughter Vrinda, a Monash University student and recent VCE high achiever, who brings fresh curriculum knowledge and a warm, encouraging style.

How I teach
I focus on the “why” behind every concept, so students don’t just get answers, they understand them and can tackle questions they haven’t seen. I teach every VCE session myself, with no rotating tutors. Groups never exceed 4 students, and 1-on-1 sessions are available. Each student is prepared for their own school’s SACs and assessment style, with a large bank of practice SACs, exams and mock tests. Support continues between sessions.

Results
My students have achieved ATARs of 98+, improved their Methods grades by 50% in six months, and gone from dreading maths to enjoying it.

Years 9–12: Individual $100/hr | Small group (max 4): $40 per student/hr
Years 4–8: Individual $55/hr | Small group: $30 per student/hr

About the lesson

What a lesson looks like

Every VCE session is taught by me, in a 1-on-1 setting or in a small group of no more than 4 students. Lessons are built around your child’s own school: we work through their SAC topics, their assessment style, and the past papers that match.

What you can expect

Clear, step-by-step explanations of the “why”, so students understand the method, not just the answer
Practice SACs, exams and mock tests from many schools, so exam day holds no surprises
Different ways of explaining a concept until it clicks, with patience however many questions are asked
Support between sessions when a tricky question comes up

Who it’s for
Years 9–12 students in VCE Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and General Maths, from private, public and selective schools. Years 4–8 are taught by my daughter Vrinda, a Monash University student and recent VCE high achiever.
