About Nita
I was awarded my qualified teaching status in 2012 after completing my portfolio. I have a range of experience working in different educational settings for that past ten years. This includes working with young people no longer in education or employment from Hackney. After leaving adult learning I moved to a specialist school for students there were permanently excluded from mainstream schools in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. My role there was teaching English and leading a small department of TA’s.
I then moved on to working at an inner London mainstream school as a Head of Inclusion and English/Media teacher. Whilst working at the school I also completed my master’s in working in Education: A Psychoanalytic Observational Approach. I studied the relevance of psychoanalytic theories to understand the emotional factors that hinder learning for pupils. My Masters empowered me to teach challenging students and to understand the anxiety when it comes to learning.
I am currently working as a Specialist teacher in SEN for the borough of Tower Hamlets. My work is based upon service level agreements within the borough and educational external services. My role is split between working within the boroughs Pupil Services where I assess students that are new arrivals to the UK or the borough. I also recommend students under the Fair Access Protocol for students that require a manage move to a different school. As a specialist teacher, I work closely with the borough SEN department carrying out tasks such as monitoring visits to schools by attending Annual Reviews. Supporting the conversion team with the EHCP conversions and completing EHCP requests.
I work with pupils from both primary and secondary schools in creating behaviour assessments. This is a lengthy piece of work which requires me to observe students in different lessons and at unstructured times. The objective of this assessment is to create a formulation about the pupil’s behaviour by looking at the family background, and social and emotional needs. along with the formulation I create effective strategies for the teachers to use to help the pupil. This piece of work is part of the early intervention working with the school, family and pupil. I give recommendations to the school on what intervention will be bested suited to the pupil.

I have completed a Masters's in Working in Education - A Psychoanalytic Observational Approach at the renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation.
I have learned the relevance of psychoanalytic theories to understanding the emotional factors that hinder learning for pupils with SEN.
I am currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Advanced Practice and Research: Social Work and Social Care at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation. The doctorate centres on psychoanalytical approaches to understanding the emotional demands and complexities for both the professional and the students with SEN. I am able to grasp working with students with SEN and understand psychoanalytical theories to help the pupil academically, emotionally and socially. I am familiar with clinical observations, attachment theory, projection, containment, anxiety and working with challenging pupils. Which has empowered me to understand the student's needs during important periods of their life and create effective interventions to support them.
My qualified teaching status has prepared me to follow a good teaching practice. I quality assure work and differentiate resources for SEN students. I focus on personalised academic and pastoral interventions for pupils with the objective to support the student to make progress. Teaching draws from creativity which I'm able to develop through imaginative lessons with clear learner outcomes and have high expectations of the resources that I produce for my lessons.

Nita is a very competent, professional and reliable specialist teacher of many years. She is very well versed with a broad knowledge and years of experience in the field of SEND which clearly shows, this being her specialism. I highly recommend Nita particularly moreso if your child has a statement or additional support needs, as well as of course those children without - she is a fantastic and very patient tutor who really works well with children, and helps them build confidence. She is also very familiar with the process of successfully applying for SEND statements as well as identifying additional support needs your child may have. Overall she is a very committed and dedicated education professional and an absolute pleasure to work with! Can't possibly recommend enough, an absolute asset worth.
