About Steven
Hi I'm Steven and I have a masters in Materials Science from Johns Hopkins. I'm a scientist by trade as I've had a couple of years of research experience in a lab back in my college. I was in school for 5 years receiving an education primarily in science so that's the topic I feel most comfortable in. I used to do 1 on 1 tutoring in high school in mathematics, and was a teaching assistant in undergrad for a laboratory course. I also have a little brother in high school who I tutor on my own time so I've had decent experience teaching.

I can give lessons to high school students and gen-ed classes in college in science and mathematics (examples are AP classes in high school, and Intro Chem, Physics, Calculus I and II in college) I like to make sure students understand topics by asking them why they took certain steps to solve a problem to make sure they understand the concept at its core, and can generalize that problem to others. I also like to break down concepts in simple to understand terms, and make sure students can explain it back to me as well without seeming like they're repeating what I said. I'm pretty patient and will stay on a topic as long as I need to until the student feels comfortable.
