About Sophie
I graduated cum laude from Williams College with a degree in economics and currently work as a journalist for NPR. I scored a 1580 on the SAT and have more than six years of tutoring experience working with students ages 11-23 across a wide range of subjects, including math, science, English, economics, SAT/ACT preparation, and college essay coaching.
My approach combines strong academic training with a focus on clear communication, confidence-building, and individualized support. Whether a student is trying to raise grades, prepare for standardized tests, strengthen writing skills, or tackle challenging quantitative material, I aim to make difficult concepts approachable and engaging.

I’m a Williams College economics graduate offering tutoring across a wide range of subjects, including math (grades 6-11), science and English (grades 6-12), economics, SAT/ACT preparation, and college essay coaching. My background combines strong quantitative training with extensive professional writing experience: I currently work as a journalist for NPR, received the National Council of Teachers of English award in high school, and have had literary work published in several national magazines.
