About Julie
I have been teaching science for over 15 years. I have a PhD in Molecular Biology from Purdue University, but I love so many areas of Biology! I was a college professor for 10 years and my favorite part of teaching is working with students one on one or in small groups so that I can make sure I know what you understand and what you don’t. It’s OK to not understand, we’ve all been there! Everyone can learn, our brains love to learn. But just like playing a sport, the more you practice it, the better you will be at it. So that is what we can do together, practice learning. Can’t wait!

I can meet you where you are in your learning. I will use several approaches to help you understand, including relating information to current events, using examples you can understand and providing you with age appropriate practice questions. If something doesn’t make sense, I will find out where you are in the learning curve so we can start from there and move forward. I have helped many students in my career and have seen them grow in knowledge and confidence. That is the most important part of my job, seeing you feel good about your progress and not be frustrated about learning. Together we can get there!
