About Sarah
In May 2023, I retired from a 36-year teaching career and during that time, taught students in the areas of mathematics and physical science. I was nominated for district teacher of the year on numerous occasions and was elected district teacher of the year in my tenure in a small town in central Minnesota. State standardized testing scores were always above state average for my students in any given year. I am currently working to support teachers in our local alternative education center and am tutoring students to support them in their mathematical journeys!

I have 36 years of experience as a full-time mathematics teacher in working with diverse learners in the state of Minnesota. I have worked with a variety of technology platforms that I found to be extremely successful in addressing a variety of learning styles and levels of achievement. Through the course of the pandemic, I also developed more skill in delivering instruction to students in an online format. In a typical lesson, I provide direct instruction, answer questions/support any work given, and work to tailor digital lessons/practice to where the student is at in their learning progress. My experience working with middle and high school students has given me multiple opportunities to grow as a trusted resource person in terms of social/emotional support and mathematical support. Specific mathematics subjects I have taught are: pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, and pre-calculus.

I taught in the classroom next door to Sarah for 18 years, and I can say with complete honesty that she is the most phenomenal teacher I have ever known. Her genuine desire to help students develop the math skills they need is without compare, and is the reason she was always the last teacher remaining at the end of the day and the first to arrive each morning. Her students responded to her calm, kind, knowledgeable approach by working hard and asking for help when needed- neither of which are common for adolescents!
