About Ghous

I'm Ghous, an electronics engineer based in Birmingham. I hold an MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Chester, where I now teach as a Visiting Lecturer on a Master's module, and I work as a freelance engineer designing circuit boards and writing embedded firmware for UK and international clients. I've taken a four layer ESP32 board from schematic to manufactured hardware and built the power system for a CubeSat, and I have accepted international conference papers on running neural networks on microcontrollers.

That range is the point. I can sit with an eleven year old wiring their first LED, and I can sit with a final year student whose STM32 project won't compile the night before a demo, and both conversations come from actually doing this work rather than reciting a tutorial.

I teach beginners of any age, adult hobbyists who want to stop following YouTube builds and understand what they're doing, school and college students with coursework, and university students on embedded systems, robotics and electronics modules. I'm patient with mistakes, and I explain things properly without making them sound harder than they are.

One to one tuition in Arduino, robotics and electronics, online or in person around Birmingham. Complete beginners through to degree level. The first 30 minutes are free, so you can tell me what you're trying to do and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it.

Adults and hobbyists

If you've bought an Arduino kit and stalled, or you can copy a project but can't modify it, this is the gap I close. We work on what you actually want to make, home automation, sensors that log data, a motorised build, a device that talks to your phone, and underneath it you pick up the real skills: reading a datasheet, using a multimeter, wiring safely, debugging when nothing happens. No prior electronics or coding background needed. Plenty of my adult students haven't studied anything technical since school.

College and university students

Embedded systems, microcontrollers, robotics, control systems, circuit analysis and digital electronics. Arduino, ESP32, nRF52, PIC with MPLAB and STM32. Proteus, Multisim and Webots simulation, plus PCB design in KiCAD. I also support final year and Master's projects end to end, from picking something achievable, through the build, through writing it up to a standard that holds marks. I mark Level 7 work myself, so I know where reports lose them.

School students, ages 9 to 18

Beginners who want to build something real rather than watch another screen, plus GCSE, A Level and IB students working on Design and Technology, Computer Science or Engineering coursework. Typical builds are a line following robot, an obstacle avoiding car, a weather station logging live data, or a motion triggered alarm. For in person lessons I supply the equipment, so there's nothing to buy before we start. Parents are welcome to sit in on the first session, and I'm DBS checked.

How lessons work

Tell me your level, what you want to build or which module you're on, and I plan the session around it before we meet. Coursework and assignment briefs get read in advance.

In the lesson I demonstrate, then you take over while I guide, because nobody learns electronics by watching someone else do it. Online students share their screen and I can debug code and wiring photos live. You finish each session with something working and a clear next step, and you can message me between lessons when something breaks.

Practical details

Online over Google Meet or Zoom, or in person around Birmingham with no travel charge. 60 minute sessions, evenings and weekends available. For online students I can recommend one starter kit under £30 that covers the first several months.

Message me with your level and what you're trying to build, and we'll arrange the free 30 minutes.

The first 30 minutes are free, so we can talk through what you want to build or which module you're on before you commit to anything.

£30 per hour for online . Blocks of 5 hours are £140 and 10 hours are £270, which works out at £28 and £27 an hour. Blocks don't expire and don't have to be used weekly.

For in person lessons I bring all the equipment, so there is nothing to buy. Online students can start with any Arduino they already own, or I'll point you at one starter kit under £30 that covers the first several months. No other costs.

Payment after each lesson or at the start of a block, whichever suits. Please give 24 hours notice to reschedule.
