About Marina
I was born in Miami, Florida, and raised in Puerto Rico by Cuban parents. Growing up, I had to learn English from scratch, so I understand what it’s like to face academic challenges and work through them step by step. I wasn’t someone who had a natural talent for English or standardized tests—instead, I relied on determination, consistency, and grit. Those experiences shaped the way I approach learning and teaching today. I believe that success isn’t about being naturally gifted; it’s about having the right mindset, effective strategies, and the willingness to keep improving. That’s the same encouragement and support I strive to give every student I work with.

English & SAT Reading & Writing Tutor
I help students raise their SAT Reading & Writing scores and strengthen their English skills by teaching the strategies that took me from a 530 to a 710. I was raised in Puerto Rico, born to Cuban parents, and I also help students learn English.
When I first started preparing for the SAT, I scored a 530 on the Reading & Writing section. Through dedicated studying, learning effective test-taking strategies, and putting in the work, I raised my score to a 710. That experience showed me that improvement is possible for any student willing to stay consistent and trust the process.
I don’t consider myself someone who was naturally gifted at standardized testing. What helped me succeed was grit, discipline, and learning how the SAT actually works. Because I’ve experienced that journey firsthand, I understand the challenges students face and can help them develop the skills and strategies needed to improve.
I offer tutoring in:
