About Abimael
Abimael Méndez, artist from Morelos, Mexico, started his professional artistic career since 2009. He has participated in various plays, dance, opera and television, where he has designed the set design and lighting for endless productions. He has collaborated with various internationally renowned directors, including: Mauricio García Lozano, Mercedes de la Cruz, Alicia Martínez, Morris Savariego, Antonio Castro, Juan Carrillo, Ireli Vázquez, Sixto Castro Santillán, Andrómeda Mejía, among others. He has collaborated with highly recognized national producers, such as: Pedro Ortiz de Pinedo, Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, Alejandro Gou and OCESA. He was a fellow of the 2017 Program for the Encouragement of Artistic Creation and Development (PECDA) in the State of Morelos. He was awarded a scholarship by Lightecture magazine to present his work at the lighting workshop in Alingsas, Sweden, in 2017. He participated in the “Murales de Luz” architectural lighting workshop with the installation “Tejidos de luz” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of CU as world heritage. He is currently a teacher at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos
