About Callum
I had always fondly entertained the idea of becoming a teacher at some point in my life, but my experience as a teaching assistant gave me clarity.
I knew that I wanted to teach pupils at a level where I could meaningfully offer expertise covering content within the subjects I loved at secondary level.
Following training over the years I have been able to recognize and build upon some of those skills I had previously been using naturally and illustrate these during formal observations.
I love the subjects I teach and hope to draw out the best in those I teach so that they can also enjoy those subjects and achieve to their highest potential.

My name is Callum and I am a Biochemistry Graduate from Bath University and Environmental Sciences Graduate from Warwick University. I also have a background in professional research as I briefly studied Neuroscience in Rome.
I am a qualified Science Teacher at an Estyn 'Excellent' school and have experience teaching all sciences at GCSE level. I will tailor sessions to your individual needs and help you to identify and overcome any misconceptions you may have based on your learning style.
Whether you need help with exam preparation or want to deepen your understanding of particular topics, I am here to guide you in improving your final results.
I will plan sessions based on your needs and provide scaffolded practice questions and feedback to aid in progression. Research shows that varying question types and practicing retrieval of information significantly improves learning and that will remain a consistent theme within sessions.
I have experience working with pupils across a spectrum of ability, from those with Additional Learning Needs who requiredifferentiated support, to those who grasp complex concepts more rapidly and require a greater challenge to elevate eventual attainment.
I am available for 1 hour sessions online and can cover Physics, Chemistry or Biology GCSE.
