About Cynthia
I have a variety of interests. I taught health and P.E. for several years; however, I love to read and enjoy helping students to learn more about what they are reading. I have always used patience and friendliness, but at the same time, I am professional. Recently, I began tutoring at a learning center and I enjoy it very much. I like to see the 'light come on' when I know the student understands more clearly. I also teach some early math and writing at this center.

I use friendly order in my classes. I believe in a positive approach to tutoring. I want the student to feel comfortable to ask questions. I do not assume the student has learned the material and move on to something else. I re-teach if necessary and ask questions, i.e., how many words in a sentence? To learn letters, the student would practice writing the letter; talk about items that begin with that particular letter.
I tutor mostly at the elementary level, but for students who might be struggling with reading fluently and understanding plot or information about a passage, I tutor middle school or even high school.
