About Makena

I started tutoring in middle school and have been improving my skills ever since. Most of my students have seen at least a 25% increase in test scores consistently after just one semester working with me and report better understanding in future classes. My goal is to help you learn how to teach yourself for lasting results, not just passing your next exam.

About the lesson

Almost every person has a missing space in their base math knowledge. Be it from changing school curriculums to just missing a day for a dentist appointment. Identifying and addressing these gaps can be the difference between finally understanding your more complex math problems. While we work through questions you currently have, I'll be able teach you the extra lessons you need based off of what you find confusing. All of my lessons are based on your needs in the moment. If a question doesn't make sense, I will find a new way to explain it until it does. I have helped a lot of students find their confidence and from there the ability to start teaching themselves. Neurodivergence welcome!!!

I loved that Makena was so patient with taking the time to understand what I needed. I was struggling with a placement test for college math and she took the time to break down and guide me through not only the practice questions but the building blocks building up to them that I was also missing. She was very patient and knowledgeable and helped me feel more confident and prepared for my test.

Makena and I have known each other for about a year. She is extremely intelligent, especially with mathematics. She also has tremendous patience, especially when it comes to explaining something.
