About Ruofei Faye

I’m Ruofei Faye Li, a senior at Bryn Mawr College majoring in Chemistry with a passion for teaching and mentorship. Throughout my time at Bryn Mawr, I’ve served as a General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Statistics Teaching Assistant, where I’ve helped students build a solid understanding of these subjects while developing confidence in their academic skills. I also have experience as an SAT Math private tutor, guiding students through personalized test prep strategies to help them achieve their target scores.

As a tutor, I focus on fostering a deep understanding of the material through active learning, problem-solving, and conceptual clarity. My approach is highly adaptive, ensuring each lesson is tailored to the student’s unique needs. Whether it’s breaking down complex chemistry concepts, explaining statistical analysis, or teaching effective SAT strategies, my goal is to make learning accessible and enjoyable.

I work with high school and college students studying chemistry, statistics, or preparing for the SAT Math section. As a senior who has balanced rigorous coursework and research, I bring both academic knowledge and personal experience, helping students succeed in their studies and develop a lasting appreciation for learning.

My teaching method would likely focus on active learning and problem-solving. I will emphasize conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization, encouraging students to think critically about the material. For subjects like chemistry, visual aids such as molecular models, reaction mechanisms, or equations might be integrated to help clarify complex topics. For SAT Math, I will break down problems into manageable steps and fostering test-taking strategies, ensuring students understand the underlying concepts and methods.

A typical lesson might start with a brief review of previous material to ensure continuity. I will then introduce new concepts, perhaps through a mini-lecture or demonstration, followed by guided practice where students work through problems with your support. Toward the end of the lesson, I will engage students in independent problem-solving or application-based exercises to solidify their understanding. I might wrap up with a summary or Q&A session to address any lingering confusion.

My unique blend of experiences across chemistry, statistics, and standardized testing gives you the flexibility to support students across a wide range of subjects. My ability to translate abstract scientific concepts into understandable language, coupled with my mentoring experience in lab research, sets me apart as a tutor who can not only teach but also inspire curiosity and confidence in students. Moreover, my background in graduate school-level research and diverse academic experiences might bring a depth of real-world context to your lessons, particularly in chemistry. Also, I can use Chinese to teach.

My lessons are ideal for:
1. High school and college students taking General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Statistics classes.

2. SAT Math students, ranging from those looking for foundational improvement to those aiming for top scores.

3. Students preparing for higher-level courses or standardized tests that involve analytical thinking and quantitative reasoning.
