About Lauren
I am a cellist and singer with a background in performance and the academic study of music. I have been working as a freelance teacher for 8 years, and I have taught upwards of 40 students. My students in classroom settings have seen significant improvement in their grads (C to A-), and my private students have given recitals and public performance after study.
I have a BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Music, so I am equipped to think about music in a variety of ways, especially as a humanity. I am looking to pursue graduate study in Historical Musicology.

I am first and foremost a teacher of theory. A lesson in music theory may come from study in a textbook, or it may come from performance. Consequently, in private performance lessons, I embrace theory-informed interpretations of music, and I encourage students to foster their own interpretations as such. I also place a heavy emphasis on ear training and sight reading as evidence of real musical thought.
