About Abedur

I am good at being the kind of teacher you need, meaning if you're the type who needs hand holding, I will guide you every step of the way. But if you like to be independent when learning, I will only give you a nudge in the right direction, if necessary.

I've been a software engineer for over eight years, and I specialize in Java, Python, Kotlin, and Android development.

I understand that the Computer Science major can be tough, and most students are on a student budget, so I am always willing to lower my rate and offer affordable and sometimes free packages to help achieve your goals. My main focus is to help you, as a student, succeed, so if you are struggling financially, I will try to help with my sessions where I can.

My services include more than just beginner computer science lessons, of course. I also offer lessons and tutoring in advanced classes such as Data Structures and Algorithms, System Design Principles, Operating Systems, Design Patterns and Architectures, Mobile Development, and others.

I hope that with my help, you learn to appreciate coding just a little bit more! Or you know, just make it through your classes.

My services are not just limited to tutoring but also helping with projects, bug-fixing, or even general guidance on what to study, all for one flat rate.

My goal is not to have you regurgitate code you've already seen, but help you use all the tools available to you to solve any problem.

The lesson plan, or my service in general, depends on what you're looking for. If you are struggling in a class, I can guide you through your homework problems dropping a bit of knowledge along the way.

If you just need help fixing a bug or two, or even an extra set of eyes, I'm your guy!

  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

Well when I was 4, my dad got me an electronic toy computer. For some reason, I had the bright idea to wash it, because I always saw my dad wash his car. Needless to say that I didn't get to touch a computer till much later. When I did, I was hooked! I was always very curious so when I first learned how to automate things on the computer using the shell scripts, my journey to programming began.
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

The advancement of AI is definitely the most significant thing that has happened last year, and will only continue to improve. We're already at the turning point, in my opinion, and it makes me excited, and terrified, to see what will be created in the next few years. However, I feel like we can use it to our advantage and skyrocket our learning curve, despite how intimidating it can be.
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

I specialize in Android development, but when it comes to programming, I'm a Jack of all trades, and Master of one. Learning to program will definitely be a valuable asset in this world in general, not just in the tech field. And thanks to the advancements in Artificial Intelligence, and the ease of use of a myriad of tools used for programming, it's starting to become a skill anyone can learn, to do literally anything!
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

While Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and the Zuck are insanely talented, I'm more inspired by a bit more niche group of people, especially in my field. Particularly, I'm inspired by the brilliant engineers and teachers who made a lot of what I do easier and more accessible to the world. Namely, my heroes are Sal Khan (creator of khanacademy), Amit Shekar (a guy on github who created a HUGE database of things to know for an Android developer), and others like them who pass on their knowledge freely. I aim to be like them and when I can, provide content for learning, for free. It's no easy feat to not be influenced by money, especially when it's hard to come by at first, so people like them have my utmost respect.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I took my first college programming course, I thought I would be a real hotshot, because I was so familiar with scripting beforehand. So like most freshmen who skipped their "easy" classes, I got a kick back to reality when I got my first test back. Needless to say, that hurt my pride and I was determined not to let something like that happen again.
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Well...it is, but why should that ever stop you? Thanks to the internet, there are so many resources out there that you can take things step-by-step, and break down a huge obstacle like IT into much more solvable
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I used to be very into fitness, but lately I haven't had the time. Mostly because my main hobby is teaching, and I've been very blessed to be busy with that. I'm also a fan of the outdoors and will try to find nice trails or mountains to hike. And when I'm feeling lazy, I'll be lazy with my two cats.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

I am very dedicated to my students and will ensure they get the biggest bang for their buck. I will try to make notes ahead of time if able, and be prepared with lessons and problems should they need it. I also make it a point to allow my students to reach me easily if they have any questions.
