About Alberto
I’m Alberto, a visual artist and musician with over 30 years of experience in the performing arts. Born and raised in Castilla, Spain, I moved to Galway, Ireland in my teens, where I learned tin whistle from Mary Bergin and later studied flute with several renowned teachers. I completed a Diploma in Performing Arts at Ballyfermot College under the direction of Paul McGrattan, and since then have performed and toured with diverse musical groups for more than 20 years. I specialize in Celtic and Spanish flute styles but always adapt to each student’s interests and pace. I regularly play and teach both wooden flute and tin whistle in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, Australia.

My flute and whistle lessons are relaxed, creative and intuitive. We learn by ear, exploring traditional melodies from Spain and Ireland with a focus on rhythm, tone and musical expression rather than strict theory. Each class adapts to the student — some prefer learning tunes, others focus on phrasing, breath and ornamentation. I bring over 30 years of experience in performance and teaching across arts and music festivals. Lessons can be one-on-one anywhere between Byron and Brisbane (travel cost not included) or online. Beginners very welcome!
