About Iain

I have a degree in Political Science. I have a degree in Special Education. I have a Master of Education in teacher leadership. I have trained for twenty-five years with the top professors in the country and the world.
I have worked in an urban environment with a high level of poverty. I have pushed my students to be local leaders and business owners.

About the lesson

I wasn’t trained in Math when I first started teaching. I learned along with the kids in a team teaching environment. I believe in explaining your thinking and developing true understanding. Now I think about math throughout the day. Use of simple tools like a number line allows kids to see why -3 - (-3)=0. Also explaining your answers in writing.
I am part of the national writing project and want my students writing everyday. I have traveled the world and understand that American English makes no sense. Much of it has to be remembered.
I know that special education students are the smartest students. Most of the inventors and famous scientists could be considered to be special education students.
I was blessed to study at Cambridge University and see that students living in poverty could out perform students from privileged neighborhoods.
