Marty and I worked together in mental health support. He was one of the central team delivering guitar, bass, and drum tuition for the music course we ran and engaged visitors at our overnight drop in sessions in impromptu guitar lessons. From theses activities it is clear that Marty is an adept teacher, even in somewhat chaotic and very informal settings he brings out student's potential, maintains their interest, and is able to adapt to individual preferences and learning styles. He also forms a rapport quickly and boosts confidence while imparting skills. Additionally Marty has experience overcoming barriers to learning and engagement and has demonstrated an ability to work successfully with students who lack confidence and/or experience mental health issues as well as neurological differences such as ASD and ADHD and learning difficulties. His teaching style improves wellbeing and attentiveness as well as supporting the learning of instrumental technique and musical theory. I have observed Marty working successfully with a broad spectrum of ability levels, musical interests, age ranges, and preferred instruments.
