English

I am a specialist English Language tutor specialising in preparing UK schoolchildren for their 13+ exams and guiding them through visits and interviews at the nation’s top private schools, I offer the best possible head start, which goes beyond academic advantage, to help young minds achieve self-confidence, mental clarity and resilience. Many capable and intelligent children find their progress hindered by intrusive negative thoughts or overwhelming stress, preventing them from realising their full potential. Drawing on years of experience, I excel at addressing these barriers, fostering a mindset that empowers students to perform at their peak and secure places at prestigious institutions. My mentoring approach is tailored to the high-stakes pressures of this pivotal stage in a child’s education. I serve as a sympathetic listener, creating a safe space for students to voice their concerns, while delivering practical, actionable advice on time management, study planning, and balancing academic demands with personal well-being. Whether it’s structuring revision schedules to maximise efficiency or prioritising tasks to avoid burnout, I equip children with the tools they need to navigate this stressful period confidently. My track record includes supporting numerous students through successful exam preparations and interview processes, helping them transform anxiety into achievement. A particular strength is coaching interview technique. I teach children how to bring their ideas and personality vividly to life in a natural, unforced way. Using storytelling frameworks adapted from my work with senior leaders, students learn to craft memorable, authentic answers that show curiosity, character and intellectual spark—exactly what top schools look for—while remaining completely themselves under pressure. This work with young learners is enriched by my parallel experience coaching senior leaders in professional settings. Regardless of their expertise, adults often face similar inhibitors—self-doubt, procrastination, or misaligned priorities—and I am highly skilled at pinpointing and unlocking these to unleash peak performance. These insights translate seamlessly to my tutoring, allowing me to apply sophisticated strategies in an age-appropriate way, ensuring children not only master content but also develop lifelong skills in self-regulation and growth. Central to my tutoring philosophy is providing unwavering, full-spectrum support. Students feel empowered to ask any question without hesitation, receiving clear, insightful answers that propel them forward and keep them on track. This holistic guidance, which combines emotional encouragement and academic rigour, will give them the confidence to approach exams, school visits, and interviews with poise, preparedness, and a genuine sense of capability.
