I utilize a "Scaffolded Inquiry" method. Instead of just providing answers, I use targeted questioning to lead students to their own "aha!" moments. For Reading and Literature, I focus on Phonemic Awareness and Deep Comprehension, moving beyond simple plot recall to character motivation. For Math, I emphasize Conceptual Mastery over rote memorization—ensuring students understand the "why" behind the numbers using visual modeling and mental math strategies.
A Typical Lesson Plan
The Brain Warm-Up (5 mins): A rapid-fire mental math game or a "word of the day" logic puzzle to activate the student's focus.
Foundational Bridge (10 mins): We review the previous concept to ensure it’s "locked in" before adding new information.
The Core Concept (25 mins): Interactive instruction using digital whiteboards or physical manipulatives. We tackle a new skill in Reading or Math through guided practice.
Creative Application (15 mins): The student applies the lesson—writing a short narrative piece or solving a complex word problem independently.
The Synthesis Wrap-Up (5 mins): The student "teaches" the concept back to me to prove total mastery.
