About Angela
Hi, I’m Angela, a Stanford student studying Economics with over 3 years of tutoring experience across writing, test prep, and academic subjects.
I bring a strong background in writing and critical analysis. In high school I went through competitive creative writing programs including the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio and the Kenyon Young Writers Workshop. I’ve also served as an editor for multiple journals, reviewing and publishing short stories, poetry, and critical essays, and I currently serve as an editor for the Stanford Journal of International Affairs. These experiences have shaped how I approach writing—as both a craft and a process that can be taught, refined, and mastered.
In addition to writing, I have experience helping students improve SAT Reading and Writing scores, develop strong academic essays, and craft compelling college applications. I focus on helping students communicate clearly, think critically, and build confidence in their own voice. I have personal experience writing 100+ unique college application statements that got me 20+ acceptances to T20 universities, and work one-on-one with students to craft their college applications from start to end.
I’m known for being structured, thoughtful, and easy to work with. I aim to create a supportive, professional environment where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas, receiving feedback, and making meaningful progress over time.

Hi! I’m Angela, a Stanford student with 3+ years of experience tutoring SAT prep, essay writing, and English literature across a range of levels.
My teaching approach is structured, personalized, and feedback-driven. For SAT prep, I focus on pattern recognition, timing strategy, and breaking down question types so students can improve efficiently. I have tutored 30+ students with an average score increase of 200. For writing, I help students develop strong, original ideas while refining structure and style. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether that’s raising a test score, improving writing skills, or preparing college applications.
A typical lesson includes:
- Identifying goals (SAT score improvement, essay support, or long-term skill building)
- Targeted instruction (grammar rules, reading strategies, or writing techniques)
- Guided practice with real examples (SAT passages, essays, or prompts)
- Detailed feedback and revision strategies
What sets me apart is my ability to give clear, actionable feedback while still encouraging each student’s individual voice. I’ve worked with students across a wide range of levels—from those building foundational reading and writing skills to those refining high-level essays for competitive college applications.
I also bring experience supporting resume building and personal statement development, helping students present themselves effectively and authentically.
