About LJ

Amidst my continued pursuit of a degree in BS Actuarial Science in the US, my adoration for mathematics is unmistakable. A testament to this passion lies in graduating high school with distinctions for mathematics and science. There's a certain satisfaction in unraveling the complexities of mathematical problems, an art I've come to cherish deeply. I delight in dissecting past exams, meticulously examining each question to ensure that I am well-prepared for any challenge they may present. By understanding the methods used to answer each type of question, I equip myself with the tools needed to approach any mathematical problem with confidence and precision. For me, the essence of mathematics lies not only in its solutions but in the profound understanding and clarity it offers.

About the lesson

Welcome to LJ's Private Tutoring! My Approach: I believe in tailoring my teaching style to suit each student's unique needs and learning preferences. With a strong foundation in BSc Actuarial Science and a genuine love for mathematics, I bring a dynamic approach to tutoring that focuses on both comprehension and enjoyment. My goal is not just to help students understand mathematical concepts but to instill in them a passion for the subject that will last a lifetime. Methodology: What sets me apart as a teacher is my ability to break down complex concepts into easily digestible chunks, fostering a deep understanding of mathematical principles. I emphasize applications to make math relevant and engaging. Additionally, I provide ample opportunities for practice and exploration, encouraging students to think critically and problem-solve independently. Languages Proficiency: I am proficient in English and Afrikaans, enabling me to teach in English and Afrikaans. Typical Lesson Expectations: During a typical lesson with me, students can expect a supportive and interactive learning environment. We'll start by reviewing any challenging topics from previous sessions before diving into new material. I'll use a variety of teaching resources, including visual aids, interactive exercises, and examples, to reinforce concepts. Together, we'll work through problems step-by-step, with plenty of opportunities for questions and clarification along the way. By the end of each session, students will not only have a deeper understanding of the material but also increased confidence in their mathematical abilities. Target Audience: My lessons are aimed at students of all levels, from elementary school to university level, as well as adult learners seeking to improve their math skills. Whether you're struggling with basic arithmetic or preparing for advanced calculus, I'm here to help.

LJ was my math tutor, and I genuinely couldn't have asked for a better teacher. Math has always been something I struggled with, but LJ has an incredible ability to explain even the most difficult concepts in a way that finally makes sense. They're patient, encouraging, and never make you feel embarrassed for asking questions.
Every lesson was well prepared and tailored to what I needed help with. I always left our sessions feeling more confident than when I started, and I saw a huge improvement in both my understanding and my confidence with math.
I highly recommend LJ to any student looking for a knowledgeable, supportive, and reliable tutor. If you're looking for someone who truly cares about your progress and wants to see you succeed, LJ is the person to choose. I have no doubt you'll feel just as supported and encouraged as I did.
