About Carolyn
I am a Ph.D. student researching language, literacy, and culture, with focus on multilingual special education. I am a licensed K-12 reading specialist, grades 6-8 ELA teacher, and 5-12 special education teacher, focusing on moderate special needs. I also have several years of tutoring experience in addition to 12+ years of teaching experience.

I am a passionate educator who strives to create individualized lessons to best meet each student's language, literacy, and cultural needs. All of my lessons follow the MA ELA Curriculum Frameworks, while as appropriate, designing lessons that incorporate Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, and Lindamood-Bell reading intervention programs. My specialized knowledge in creating and implementing individualized education programs allows me to best assess the student's needs, create a focused academic plan, and build targeted lessons designed to help the student reach their goal(s). I teach K-12, with specialized experience focusing on grades 5-12. When teaching, I strive to make my lessons meaningful and relevant to the student and incorporate their language, literacy, and cultural backgrounds into my lessons.
