About James
I hold a PhD in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame (USA), I've worked as a university lecturer in the US, Germany, France, and New Zealand, and as a research scientist in biomedical technology for the French Government. I'm currently a technical advisor and consultant on operational processes in industry (making use of operations research, statistics, and programming). I love teaching and I love developing students intellectually. My lessons have more of a "training" feel to them and a dominant aspect of my approach is bringing students into a growth mindset -- we game plan, develop our math IQ, and we beat problems up. Lessons are largely determined by your needs and interests; for example, I am available for High school VCE background theory, problem solving and performance training. Bachelor's degree background theory, problem solving and performance training. Master's level background theory, or problem-specific conceptualization. Extracurricular mathematics training, including interests in Mathematics through computing and programming. Interests in higher-level mathematics: Real and Functional Analysis, Differential Geometry, Mathematical Methods in Classical mechanics. Lessons are typically 1 hour, but longer sessions can be arranged. I am available in person (this mode is preferable and achieves better outcomes) and online. Due to my consulting and research contracts I am unable to give free trial lessons, but we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to determine what you are looking for and what works for you. In my classes we game plan, develop our math IQ, and we beat problems up. Any more questions?
