About Katelyn
I have worked with children ages five through 16, since I was 16. I was a camp counselor for many years and now I am a substitute teacher. I am a high school graduate with some college experience. I am a very hands-on learner and I teach and tutor with the same tactics.

I was a child who struggled with reading and writing and would easily get frustrated and give up. I have since then fallen in love with the craft. In my free time, I even write scripts and comedy for fun. I provide motivation and understanding as well as grammar instruction and English writing “rules”. I teach how to annotate and what strategies I use when reading to ensure understanding of the passage, chapter, or book. I teach vocabulary and the importance of context clues. I was a student who learned differently than my peers and teachers in the classroom. I learned in a public school setting, but the second I could I started volunteering at the school I now substitute teach at. I created an afterschool drama program to teach how I learned and am committed to helping students learn.
