About Perry
I am a PhD candidate in literature at the University of Turku in Finland. I won three university awards for my English essays when I was an undergraduate student, and I have now published multiple peer-reviewed articles in top-ranking international academic journals. I have taught at the University of British Columbia, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Iceland. I have also tutored essay writing. Moreover, I am an editor of an academic journal, wherein I help scholars improve their writing. I speak Filipino, Icelandic, and Swedish, among others.

My teaching focuses fully on your needs and capacity as an individual. A typical literature session involves verifying what you think you have learned about a text and confirming it based on evidence you can provide. We will hash out themes within a text to make sense of it and connect what we know. Writing sessions involve going through your thought process as it appears on the page and clarifying that what you have written down is what you wanted to say. My experience as an editor of an academic journal will give you an advantage in knowing what is expected in terms of writing and analysis skills. The late Prof. Robert Finnegan only handed out A+s to students who could write as well as he did. I was the only one who got one. You will do the same.
