About McKenna
I recently graduated from the University of Victoria in British Columbia with my Elementary Education Degree. I soon moved to Calgary and started teaching here, working with multiple grades, focusing on mostly literacy. I have many resources and have helped many different learners to see progress with their reading and writing.

Much of my teaching experience has been teaching students, aged 5-10 to read and write fluently. This has been with students who are learning English as an additional language, or building on the English they already know. I have experience using resources such as UFLI, Jolly Phonics and Heggerty in order to help students with their literacy. Typically a lesson would include learning letters and letter sounds, reading aloud to practice fluency, practicing spelling, letter formation, grammar and proper pronunciation.
