I have over 20 plus years experience of teaching students both English Language and Literature. I tend to utilize the Communicative method of language teaching so that learners can see the real life benefits of English, that is as it is used for everyday communication. As a tutor, I think my enthusiasm for teaching and meeting new people sets me apart. My lesson plans follow the 5E method (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate). By going through these five stages I am able to engage the learner through an exciting activity, then explore the topic with them. This allows for learner-centered engagement. After this I will explain any areas that the learner finds troublesome, then go on to elaborate on the topic. Finally, I evaluate and encourage self-evaluation from the learner to see our progress. I love teaching students from grades 10 to 12/13. I find that encouraging them to develop a lifelong love of English Language and Literature gives me genuine joy.
