Role playing is most effective for students of almost any age group.
Teaching through role-playing is a great way to make students step out of their comfort zone and develop their interpersonal skills. The role-playing approach will help a student understand how the academic material will be relevant to his everyday tasks. For children I use the role- playing “Going to the Shop” by giving the basics of interacting with people plus key phrases “I would like…” “How much are…” “Good morning…”
For adults I usually use the “Job Interview” role-playing, I get the interviewer to prepare some questions and the student takes it from there. Booking a hotel, Telephone Conversation role-playings are most effective for students of almost any age group
