About Delma
I am a retired professor with almost 40 years experience teaching thousands of high school, college, and graduate students in two states. I have written five composition/grammar textbooks, which have been used in freshman composition and technical writing courses for over ten years. My student evaluations reflect a level of professionalism and scholarship that has been highly prized. In addition to teaching, I developed and directed a university writing center for over five years before retirement. I currently teach part-time at a local technical-community college instructing students in workplace literacy.

My teaching methods include discussion with a focus on critical thinking and questioning and careful review. I am a strong believer in revision and use a classical model to teach writing for a variety of applications ranging from business and technical writing to creative non-fiction. I am highly organized and systematic, using classical teaching strategies that yield high results. I believe in developing a relationship with student writers through written dialogue.
